The National Program for Monitoring Rocky Reefs and Corals was created as a space for generating knowledge, discussion and alliances for professionals and undergraduate and graduate students from different areas of science. The objective is to understand the health dynamics of these ecosystems through the study of their composition, structure and function. The people linked to the program have formed the interest group "Let's talk about reefs", from where they give life to the initiatives and coordinate the studies to be carried out at different scales of space and time. In a systematic way, around 26 physical, chemical and biological variables are registered. So far, the record of marine biodiversity has been increased with 52 new reports, the distribution of several representative groups of the ecosystem, coral mortality and bleaching events, recruitment rate of Porites lobata, herbivore, invasive species dynamics have been studied, among other important aspects in the ecosystem. The communication of the results of the investigations within the framework of the program is carried out between peers with publications in peer-reviewed scientific magazines, social articles in blogs and newspapers with national circulation, campaigns on social networks and in radio and television programs; In addition, the information is addressed to all ages in awareness sessions.
